Be warned: Long post!

Here’s the ultra over dued blog of my room! and yes it’s damn messy (even considering that it’s da shao chu time)! somemore can tell it was a importu picture by the unarranged mess in the room. my tables are meant for putting things and not for writing things. ha. anyway, every little thing in the room has its little history, so i shall just name the more interesting ones.

The fan – It’s a gold color fan! cool or wat right? i just sprayed it gold today! it used to be red/maroon. trying to start of chinese new year with some gold! anyway, i tink gold would be an interesting color that could go with black. i thot a black or white fan would be quite common and someone probably has it, but a gold fan!? seriously! how many freaking pple have a gold fan!? that’s another gold fan on the floor if u can see it.

The TV – 32" LG LCD tv. bought it for $550 a few months back. display set. i went to courts mega sale at tampines. and when i saw it was $550 and only like 1 set left, i just couldn’t help it. it was almost like a 1min decision. sure, i had already thot of getting a tv. in fact, i went there wanting to get a 26" tv for $399. but it was some brandless brand. so i thot, wat the heck. somemore, that time not financial crisis yet. anyway, this tv has served me well so far. happy with it.

The sofa – The sofa is actually those more balinese types but i asked my mum to sew the covers to hide the wooden parts. I told my mum to help me look for cloth, and i told her look for FLORAL prints, flowers. white-based, black flowers. but unfortunately finding such cloth was difficult. all the cloth shops she went to didn’t have (and before u say floral prints are ugly and that’s the reason why no shop sells, let it be known that Ikea has those prints on their furniture now). so in the end, she bought white leopard prints. when i see it, i piangz. she said quite similar mah! i said, WHERE GOT?! i do appreciate her effort, but dont look like la. but so anyway, i din care abt it la. leopard then leopard lor. and from picture 3 n 4 look a bit like floral right (i am trying to bluff myself).

The curtain – I quite like the curtains so far. quite cheap too. I went with my mum to some cloth place near geylang serai. looks a bit artsy rite? ha.

The walls – The 2 sides are black, the ceiling is red and the rest is white. Painted it with my mum. See, a lot of things are DIY!

The bed – this story is a little longer. pictures below.

the bed was bought from Ikea. its a double size bed (Ikea doesnt believe in producing standard sizes like Queen size). The bed is on top, while the bottom part is left empty. It was like a space maximiser concept. I liked the idea. Else i am sure my room wouldnt have space for one 4-door wardrobe, one display cabinet, two tables, one sofa, one tv console and one small glass table. anyway, before i go on the modifications i have done to the bed, here’s the story of how i got it. Usual price for the bed is $299 (u now go buy is $299). then ikea had like a once in a year sale and it was going for $219. I was so happy to see it was on discount! Cos i was eyeing it all the while and suddenly, there’s a $80 discount! hell yeah! ha. So I was like going to get it. Then i went to the AS-IS section (which is where Ikea tries to sell defect furnitures at a cheaper price). Then i saw the same bed, with some scratches, at $135! that’s a $164 discount! how to resist? but it came with a catch, the staff said furniture in the AS-IS is sold as it is, i must dismantle it myself. After much ferious brain activities, i said, dismantle myself then dismantle myself la. no big deal, i so handy. somemore can save another $84 from the sale price! so i thot i get the one from the AS-IS section. Oh ya, i forgot to mention, the staff that told me that i had to dismantle the bed myself since it was bought from the AS-IS section is a jackass. He said "AS-IS sections items are sold as it is" and said " you need to dismantle it yourself" in a shit ass tone. Which customer on earth would actually know that he/she had to dismantle it him/herself? We only know it is the exact item that is being displayed.

back to the story, after i went to pay for the bed (must pay for item first before coming back to AS-IS section to collect), i went back there and look for a staff to collect my prize. then this other staff came along. he looked at my receipt and said "oh, there’s another one of these bed, packed, with some scratches at the legs of the bed frame" and when i went to see it, there was just some small holes in the boxes that caused some scratches at the legs. and i was like oh great! no need to dismantle and probably in better condition than the one being displayed and happily collected the bed. so i managed to save money plus i needn’t dismantle anything, and got something that’s brand new (no doubt with some minor defect)!

then while trying to stuff the package into the car, my mum and i had great difficulty finding the right angle to stuff it into the car. prior to that, we had already roughly measured the length of the car and predicted that we could squeeze the bed in (of cos with some of my engineering brain). then one ikea staff came over to help and he managed to squeeze it in! and after he helped us, he went off with his own work before we could even tip him. it was really a nite of excitement.

yupz, here are the 3 boxes which managed to contain the entire bed! Ikea really knows how to design and pack their things!

then comes to modifications. First, i din wan the bed to be grey in color. So i had to paint it matt black as u can see from the pictures above. Oh ya, that was the reason why i din care if the bed was scratched or not, cos i will be painting it anyway. Then i wanted to squeeze a queen sized mattress on it when the bed was meant to be a double size. meaning, the original bed frame couldnt fit my mattress! so i had to saw off one of the sides of the bed to fit the mattress. Then i had to elevate the mattress supports to fit the mattress properly. Once again, with my engineering brain, and some luck, i was successful. So this is probably one of the most dramatic stories a simple bed like mine could ever have!

let’s start of with smth light.

so i have like this clear card thing rite, and for every $5 i spend, i get 1 citidollar. so u see above, i will have to spend like $1200 just to change a swenson $5 voucher! sounds very bad rite? but the benefits of the card is not really for the loyalty points, but rather, the discounts. 15% off cafe cartel, 10% off timbre to name a few.

i tink of late, i have only been catching chinese shows. red cliff and red cliff 2 are great. and i just love the way olden chinese pple talk, they talk in chen yu! so cool la. i picked up a few from zhu ge liang (takashi keneshiro) like 颜面何纯. damn power. my goal is to brush up my chen yu and shoot pple with chen yu until they cant even open their mouth! haha. back to the show, great show, if u watched red cliff 1, u must watch red cliff 2! action, witty, strategy, light humour all in one. worth the watch.

next recommended chinese show is Ip Man! nope, its not exactly pronounced as ip man, but more like YIP MUN. cool kungfu fighting show. havent seen such a great kungfu show for sometime liaoz. go rent the dvd or buy it when its out. i tink its out somewhere liaoz, else i also cannot find the youtube. and donnie yen is damn cool can! oh, Ip Man is supposed to be the main character in the show, and this character really exists! he is supposed to be the master of Bruce Lee. Anyway, this show maybe more a guy’s show. but if u r a girl with more male hormones, u shld watch it. if u r a guy with less male hormones (meaning more female hormones), u shouldn’t watch it. okok. below are 3 highlights of the show!
